Parent Testimonials
“By attending the weekly sessions my confidence had grown immensely. I now
feel that I do know my child best and what his capabilities are and the
exercises and therapy that I do with Jack under the guidance of Suffolk
School for Parents Staff means that jacks progress has astounded his
paediatrician. Reports from Jack’s physio are also pleasing “ 2007.
“They offer a wide variety of sensory stimulation and conductive education
during the session which both parent and child take part and we both learn
and achieve together. This helps us understand our child’s disability, they
assess the children regularly so that they can move on to the next stage in
their development – I now have a second child that attends School for
Parents and look forward to her progress” 2007.
“My daughter attended Suffolk School for Parents for 3 and half years when
we started we as a family were struggling to come to terms with her severe
disabilities looking back Imogen now uses so many of the skills we learnt
together at Suffolk School for Parents. She is able to sit independently,
assist with dressing (this makes life so much easier as she gets bigger) she
is able to move around and change positions and many more self help skills.
“ I first took our daughter to Suffolk School for Parents, unable to crawl
or walk and with little knowledge of what Conductive Education could offer
but keen to try something new, i came away feeling enthusiastic and full of
hope. Suffolk School for Parents gave us a lifeline for support each week
and it wasn’t long before she was able to get into the crawling position and
after lots of support and dedication form the staff she was off !” .
“George has severe cerebral palsy and needs 24 hour care and assistance with
everything he does. It was a great relief to find somewhere where we could
meet others in similar situations and to learn of different exercises to
help George. Although Suffolk School for Parents sessions were predominantly
to help George learn more awareness of his own ability, I found the contact
with other parents extremely beneficial and came away most weeks with vital
information to help better George’s quality of life” 2007.
“Sessions would excite him – to him it was fun, it was play, not boring and
often found he would do things at the school which he wouldn’t do at home.
Over the years of attending Suffolk School for Parents he improved in his
physical development and in his overall confidence – less shy ,more vocal “.
“ Emma was diagnosed with Left Hemiplegia it was difficult for my wife and I
to come to terms with and could not at that time comprehend what support our
daughter would receive. After being made aware of the charity Suffolk School
for Parents Emma started to attend weekly sessions, these sessions have not
only given Emma much needed development as well as overcoming her personal
phobias, but they also have given my wife and I valuable support too” .
